Professional Interpreting Services
Clear communication depends on prompt, accurate interpreting. A professional interpreter is not only fluent in at least one foreign language but is also familiar with the relevant terminology, mentality and cultural differences of both parties.
Instant Translation provides a full range of interpreting services for any type of setting including business negotiations, training courses, legal consultations, on-site audits, weddings, corporate events and guided tours in Ireland.
Our interpreters are not only proficient in the required languages but also well familiar with the Irish public system and cultural implications of the interpreting process.
Instant Translation guarantees strict confidentiality at all interpreting sessions.
Things to consider when booking an interpreter:
- Our interpreters are quite in demand, so please book early.
- They work standard office hours (9am−5pm, Monday to Friday, with a lunch break). If you need an interpreter outside these hours, an overtime rate will be applied.
- For conference interpreting due to intensive nature of this work, you will need to book at least two interpreters and provide all relevant materials in advance.
- Bear in mind additional expenses that can be incurred by interpreters during the course of their assignment, such as travel, meals and accommodation.
- A cancellation will be applied if you cancel your order after an interpreter or interpreting equipment has been booked.
Types of Interpreting Services
Although all interpretation services can be categorized into legal, business, medical, educational, community and liason/escort interpreting services, they are rendered in either simultaneous or consecutive mode.
Simultaneous interpretation, sometimes referred to as “real time interpretation” provides instantaneous, real-time interpretation of what is being said. It allows the speaker to continue talking in his own tongue, without pausing. Simultaneous interpreters work from special booths in pairs as this type of interpreting is very demanding and complex. They alternate every 20 minutes and take regular breaks. Whispered Interpreting, sometimes called Chuchotage [shoo-shoh-tazh], is a type of simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter will usually work without sound equipment and literally whisper his translation to a limited number of listeners. All presentations and other materials are provided to interpreters a few days in advance of the event to give interpreters a chance to familiarise themselves with the topic and terminology.
When using the services of a consecutive interpreter the speaker regularly pauses after a sentence or phrase, enabling the interpreter to repeat what has been said in the target language. Although this is a time consuming process, it allows a more complete and accurate translation. Our experienced, qualified interpreters work both into and out of their mother tongue. Sometimes the interpreter takes notes for long passages. Occasionally, document sight translation is required of the interpreter during consecutive interpretation work. Sight translation combines interpretation and translation. The interpreter must translate the source-language document to the target-language as if it were written in the target language. Sight translation occurs usually, but not exclusively, in judicial and medical work.
With the assistance of our interpreters, migrants of various nationalities communicate freely with officials of the Social Welfare services; Registry offices; hospitals; GNIB; Revenue; Employment Appeals Tribunal; Labour Relations Commissioner; solicitors’ offices, etc. Our interpreters are not only proficient in the required languages, but also well familiar with the cultural implications of the interpreting process and Irish public services. Instant Translation guarantees strict confidentiality at all interpreting sessions.
In this case an interpreter accompanies a person or a delegation on a tour, on a visit, to a meeting or interview.
